OMAHA, Neb. — An Omaha-based Army Reserve battalion is heading back to Iraq for its second tour in the combat zone.

The 530th Military Police Battalion returned from Iraq nearly four years ago.

On Saturday, about 165 of its members will leave for training at Fort Bliss, Texas, near El Paso, before heading overseas.

About 40 of the reservists were part of the 530th’s first tour in Iraq. But the unit commander says about nearly 100 members have already served there, many with other units.

The National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., says about 16 percent of Guard and reserve soldiers have two or more deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan.
