Qatar shop repairs 100th Stryker

Mideast edition, Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Working at a pace of around 12 vehicles per month, an Army repair facility in Qatar has just returned its 100th Stryker combat vehicle to Iraq. The vehicles have suffered a wide variety of combat damage, mainly from bomb blasts targeting the eight-wheeled vehicles.

The Stryker Battle Damage Repair Facility has reduced the repair process from 200 days to 60 days per vehicle, officials said Monday.

That process has been speeded by “moving the structural and repair assessment process forward to Iraq,” a news release read.

About 90 people, a mix of contractors and servicemembers, work at the repair facility.
