Going Army Becomes a Family Affair
Going Army Becomes a Family Affair
Fresno Bee | January 14, 2008

Sharon Cameron was helping her youngest daughter join the Army National Guard last year when a recruiter gave her some surprising news. At 40, he said, Cameron was not too old to join the Army herself.

In that second, life began to change for the single mother of three who never quite lost sight of some unusual dreams.

With the father of her children out of the picture, she worked as an accountant for both Fresno County and the city of Fresno.

As much as she liked that career, Cameron wondered what it would be like to join the military as her own father had done, to go to boot camp and maybe even jump out of an airplane.

Now, even though she has two grandchildren and a third on the way, Cameron is about to find out what it's like to live your dreams -- and she won't be alone.

uhc comment: Not only will she enjoy the rigors of boot camp, she most likely will also enjoy the sands of Iraq.
