Air Force hits Dec. recruiting goal — almost

The Air Force nailed its active duty and reserve recruiting goal for December, but Air National Guard recruiters missed their goal by just a few.

According to a Jan. 10 press release from the Defense Department, the Air Force Recruiting Service brought in 1,772 active-duty airmen in December, hitting its stated goal exactly.

Air Force Reserve recruiters accessed 561 airmen, one more than they needed. And the Air National Guard signed up 624. Guard recruiters were aiming for 650 sign-ups, so they are at 96 percent of their December goals.

The December numbers complete the service’s first quarter of fiscal 2008, and the Air Force has surpassed all three fiscal ’08 goals to date, according to the press release. All three components met or exceeded their goals in November.

The Air Force Recruiting Service brought in 27,801 active-duty airmen in fiscal 2007, the same number they are hoping to recruit in 2008.
