Sailors can expect to wear their dungarees a little bit longer.
That’s the news as Navy officials have announced a delay in the fielding of the new digital camouflage Navy Working Uniform and a revised rollout plan for it. Officials also announced a new rollout plan for the new E-6 and below service uniform.
The delays won’t impact the Navy’s physical training uniform fielding, which is still scheduled to begin in spring 2008.
“Due to recent contracting and various uniform component production and manufacturing challenges, the introduction and distribution schedule for the and is revised,” said Naval Administrative message 004/08, which was released by Vice Adm. John C. Harvey, the Navy’s chief of personnel, on Wednesday.
In addition, officials have revised their rollout concept that would have put the uniforms in all major fleet concentration areas first before gradually working the uniforms into the smaller Navy areas.
