C-17 squadron returns to McGuire
C-17 squadron returns to McGuire

More than 100 members of an airlift squadron and other units returned Friday night from deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan into the waiting arms of family.

The group landed at 9:22 p.m. at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.

The airmen and women spent more than four months shuttling cargo and military personnel in C-17 cargo planes in support of the wars in Iraq.

Most of the airmen are in the 6th Airlift Squadron of the 305th Air Mobility Wing, the oldest airlift squadron in the Air Force.

“We are all looking forward to seeing our loved ones back in the States after being separated for four months and spending the holidays away from home,” Lt. Col. Joseph Wolfer, squadron commander, said.
