FORT SMITH, Ark. — A teacher who recently served in the Navy in Iraq has been arrested for allegedly threatening his wife and child with a gun.

Fort Smith police say John Pinkston told his wife Michele on Wednesday night that he was going to buy alcohol, and she asked if they could afford it.

Police say he bought the liquor and, later that night, grabbed his wife by her hair, as she was sleeping while holding their 3-year-old son. Police say Pinkston cursed at his wife and held a gun to her head.

Michele told police she was able to get away and call them. When police arrived, John Pinkston was in the living room with the gun near his lap. Police said the gun was not loaded.

Pinkston resigned Thursday from a job teaching science at Northside High School.

uhc comment: Unless immediate attention is given to this man's PTSD, he is headed towards some really bad times.
