Death of 2-month-old at Sill investigated

LAWTON, Okla. — Detectives are investigation the death of a 2-month-old Lawton boy who police say died from injuries that were suspicious in nature.

Detectives began investigating about 5 p.m. Friday after the injured child was taken to Reynolds Army Hospital at Fort Sill for medical attention, Police Capt. Jackie LaRoche said.

The child, who was not identified, was later taken to an Oklahoma City hospital, where he died sometime before midnight, LaRoche said.

LaRoche said the child was reportedly injured in northwest Lawton. Police are awaiting a report on the cause of death from the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

No one was in custody Saturday night, LaRoche said.
