Operation Jingle reunites sailors, families

NORFOLK, Va. — Sailors who live aboard ships or in barracks and can’t make it home for the holidays can have their families come to them.

A program called Operation Jingle will provide up to three nights in a hotel or motel in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth for those sailors’ families, starting Sunday.

The cost is $10 per room, per night. The money will be donated to the Navy and Maine Corps Relief Society, which provides services to military families.

The Navy said Wednesday that 122 sailors have reserved rooms so far, raising a total of $3,500 in reservation fees.
