AAFES recalls 4 toys for high lead levels

If you did your holiday toy shopping months ahead, check your packages and your child’s toy chest for four types of “Soldier Bear” toys recalled because of high lead levels.

Army and Air Force Exchange Service has voluntarily recalled about 11,400 “Soldier Bear” toys after a program of additional chemical testing revealed elevated levels of lead, officials said. The toys were sold from August 2006 through Nov. 2, 2007.

All the affected toys were removed from the shelves Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 — along with all the other toys made by the two affected manufacturers, both based in Hong Kong — when initial tests showed problems.
