Air Force Lt. Gen. Roger A. Brady has been nominated to take command of U.S. Air Forces Europe, the Defense Department announced late Thursday.

Brady, who also would put on a fourth star, is currently Air Force deputy chief of staff for personnel. His nomination must be approved by the Senate.

Brady was commissioned in 1969 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Oklahoma.

He served as an air intelligence officer in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971, and his other assignments including serving as director of logistics at USAFE headquarters in 1997 and then director of plans and programs at USAFE headquarters in 1998.

The current USAFE commander is Gen. William T. Hobbins, who assumed command at USAFE in December 2005.

It was unknown Thursday night what his next assignment would be.
