Slain OSI agents to be buried this week

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations has announced memorial and funeral services for its three agents who were killed in Balad, Iraq, on Nov. 1.

Special agents Master Sgt. Thomas A. Crowell, 36; Staff Sgt. David A. Wieger, 28; and Nathan J. Schuldheiss, 27, died while conducting a counterintelligence operation when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device, according to an OSI press release.

Crowell, of Neosho, Mo., will be buried at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Memorial services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., and at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Schuldheiss, of Newport, R.I., will be remembered with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Buckley Air National Guard Base chapel in Aurora, Colo.

There will be a funeral service for Wieger, of North Huntingdon, Pa., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Norwin Christian Church in Irwin, Pa. Immediately following the funeral service, a committal ceremony with full military honors will be held in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park in Irwin.

There will be a closed-casket viewing for Wieger’s family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at the Snyder Funeral Home at 521 Main St. in Irwin.
