No attempted murder charge for Yokota teens
No attempted murder charge for Yokota teens

Four teenage children of airmen at Yokota Air Base, Japan, reportedly will not face attempted murder charges for an incident in which they allegedly caused a woman to crash a motorcycle and fracture her skull.

The Japan Times reported that one 19-year-old male suspect will face charges of obstruction of traffic and causing injury. The other three children, aged 15 to 17, were not indicted and were handed over to U.S. authorities, the report stated.

Yokota spokesman Maj. Chris Watt confirmed to Air Force Times that the four teens had been released from Japanese custody, and three of them would not face charges. He said the fourth teen “may still be facing charges.”

The suspects were arrested Dec. 5 by Yokota security forces in connection with the Aug. 13 incident. The teens allegedly strung a rope across a road that caused the woman to crash her vehicle.

2. Imperial Storm Troopers, spreading good will around the galaxy. It's a wonder why more
American troops aren't targeted by occupied populations, considering the "benefits" our forces bring to foreign lands.

3. I'm not sure how you got from...
four teens who should have the book thrown at them, to "Imperial Storm Troopers", but it certainly shows you have a flair for bigotry and a gross ignorance about the vast majority of the military.

Good luck with that.

4. My point is that the US military, stationed all over the world, are not the best ambassadors
for promoting a positive view of America.

Where do you think these "teens" got the idea that they could act with impunity in another country?

With the US policy of protecting US military personnel from the consequences of their actions overseas, whether in "action" or simply living there and abusing the citizens of the host nation, these kids clearly were taught that they, by "virtue" of their lofty status as American military, were above the law and beyond the reach of local law enforcement.

Not participating in the ICJ sends the same message, but even stronger. When our people commit crimes, we do not let the locals have jurisdiction.

We get pissed off when UN diplomats don't pay traffic tickets. Yet, we are all upset when our little military criminals are held accountable for their crimes.

Bring all military back here so that they do not poison the well of "good will" being generated by the change in administration.

5. These things happen in the civilian world as well as the military...
we are merely the U.S. citizenry in microcosm. If you don't like the way the situation is being handled, I suggest you address the SOFA agreements with that nation with the State Department and the U.S. Congress. There is no "protection" going on.

Again, you display little understanding of the legal situation and apparent bigotry against the U.S. military.

For the record, I do not defend for an instant what these kids did, and personnaly feel they should be caned like that kid in Singapore a while back, plus detention time.

"poison the well"? I guess all of the relief work I've assisted, medivacs, food deliveries, rescues and peace-keeping count for nothing, eh? Please, bloviate elsewhere.
