Posted : Friday Dec 11, 2009 18:17:08 EST

Four soldiers will be honored for their actions while deployed to Afghanistan during a ceremony Dec. 14 at Fort Benning, Ga.

Staff Sgt. Justin Grimm will receive the Silver Star, the third highest award for valor, and Staff Sgt. Clifton Anderson and Sgt. Michael Lawrence each will receive the Bronze Star with “V” device.

These three soldiers will be recognized for their actions during the deadly July 13, 2008, battle in Wanat, Afghanistan, that killed nine paratroopers from 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, of Vicenza, Italy.

Staff Sgt. Zachari Rushing will receive the Army Commendation Medal with “V” for his actions following a catastrophic improvised explosive device explosion in 2007 in Charbaran District, Afghanistan. Rushing was assigned to the 503rd Infantry Regiment’s 1st Battalion.
