February 1968 Vietnam - The "Rock Crusher"
Edited on Tue Oct-27-09 09:52 AM by DemReadingDU

Through the wonders of the Internet, my spouse has found some of the guys he served with in the Marines during the Vietnam War, specifically February 1968 at The "Rock Crusher" near Hue. They have put together this piece of history which has been published in the November 2009 issue of the Marine Corps Gazette.

The Road to the Graveyard: A Bloody Footnote to the Battle for Hue
as published in the Marine Corps Gazette

There is also a website with additional information, video, pictures, dedications
http://www.2-7-68.com/ or http://www.2-7-68.com/Home.html

They are always looking for others who survived this ambush or have memories of those who died. If you, or anyone else you know, might be aware of this time in history, please look at the guestbook for names to contact. Thank you.

6. I can't help being struck by the date
2/7/70 was the date I got hit.

I know vets who were at Khe Sanh, and I know what they went through. It's great that your husband was able to reconnect with others from that time. I'd guess he probably has a reunion coming up where he'll have a chance to see some of those guys for the first time since the war. That's cool, but it's also likely to trigger things that are problematic. If you are both aware of that, you'll be in a better position to deal with it as it arises.

I was Army, and I also recently stumbled upon a website for my Infantry company. I'm looking forward to the reunion we'll have this year. Finding them stirred up some stuff for me, and the reunion likely will stir up more. Seeing those guys again will be SO good--even if I have to watch myself and take care to manage things and to reach out for help in dealing with it. That's how we survive.

Tell your husband "Welcome Home and Semper Fi" from an Army brother.

Love & Peace,
pinboy3niner
