AAFES delays release of fuel price changes

New Army and Air Force Exchange Service fuel prices are expected to be announced Friday, a day later than usual, according to an AAFES official.

The exchange usually releases the next week’s prices for gas and diesel in Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands on Thursdays. However, an AAFES message sent Thursday afternoon said gas prices "will not be available today and will be released Friday ..."

The message, sent via e-mail by AAFES spokesman Lt. Col. David Konop, gave no reason for the delay.

Prices are expected to be broadcast by AFN on Friday and will be available on the network’s Web site before they are available in Stars and Stripes.

Gas prices in Germany and the U.K. are expected to rise at least 6 cents a gallon Saturday.
