BOISE, Idaho — More than 400 airmen are returning to Idaho from Afghanistan and Iraq by the end of the week.

The first group, made up of nearly 300 maintenance and support staff for the Air Force’s 391st Fighter Squadron’s “Bold Tigers,” returned Thursday to Mountain Home after spending four months at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

Dozens more personnel and about 20 F-15E Strike Eagle jets assigned to the 391st Squadron were expected back Saturday.

Master Sgt. Brian Orban said the airmen flew more than 1,700 combat missions and racked up 7,000 flying hours during the four months.

An additional 170 airmen with the 726th Air Control Squadron were scheduled to return to the base Saturday after spending nearly five months on combat duty in Iraq.
