Fort Riley soldier dies in Iraq

CONCORD, Calif. — Military officials say a 22-year-old soldier from the San Francisco Bay Area city of Concord has died in Iraq.

The Department of Defense announced Friday that Pvt. Benjamin Tollefson, station at Fort Riley, Kan., died Dec. 31 in Balad, Iraq, after his unit was attacked by insurgents in Ghazaliya.

Tollefson was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
