Benning soldier killed in motorcycle crash

LADONIA, Ga. — A soldier stationed at Fort Benning has died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck in Ladonia.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry did not immediately identify the man because his family had not been notified, but said the soldier was in his 20s.

Sumbry pronounced him dead at 1:55 p.m. Saturday.

Phenix City Police Sgt. Jason Whitten said the man was traveling east on Highway 80 when the collision occurred and no one else was hurt.

Police said more information will be released as the investigation continues.
