TALLASSEE, Ala. — It’s not exactly the holiday trip they had in mind, but military duty has called another group of Alabama National Guard personnel.

About 190 soldiers assigned to the 158th Maintenance Company, based in Tallassee and Tuskegee, are expected to depart the U.S. sometime Monday.

According to Captain Robert Shodorf, the company commander, the unit had been in training at an Army installation in Indiana since early November.

Shodorf said soldiers will serve approximately one year and should arrive in somewhere in northern Iraq around Christmas.
