Bush to visit Campbell before Thanksgiving

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — President George W. Bush will visit Fort Campbell next week before the Thanksgiving holiday, the White House said Thursday.

Bush is scheduled to give a speech Tuesday on the global war on terror while visiting the Army post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.

“This is a fort that is home to many soldiers who have deployed and fought in the global war on terror,” said Blair Jones, a White House spokesman. “The president will visit during this Thanksgiving season to both talk about this important and ongoing mission and to thank soldiers and their families for their service and sacrifice.”

Bush last visited the base in 2005 and 2004.

During his 2004 visit, Bush welcomed home soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who participated in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003.
