AF recruits were highest quality in military

The Air Force attracted the highest-quality recruits among all the services in fiscal 2008, according to data released by the Defense Department.

For the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 99 percent of new Air Force enlisted recruits had a high school diploma and 79 percent scored at or above the 50th percentile on the Armed Force Qualification Test.

Across DoD, 92 percent of recruits had a high school diploma and 69 percent scored at or above the 50th percentile on the AFQT.

The Army had the lowest quality of recruits, with 83 percent of recruits possessing a high school diploma and 62 percent scoring at or above the 50th percentile on the AFQT.

The Air Guard and Air Force Reserve also attracted high-quality recruits.
