SHREVEPORT, La. — More than 120 Louisiana National Guard soldiers bid farewell to family and friends at a deployment ceremony Sunday at Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium.

The 39th Military Police Company of the 773rd Military Police Battalion will leave for Fort Dix, N.J., after the ceremony to begin two months of training before they head to Baghdad.

Currently, the 228th Military Police Company based in Pineville is serving in Iraq helping to train Iraqi police. They are scheduled to return from their yearlong deployment in March.
