Roadside bomb kills soldier in Iraq

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military says that a roadside bomb has killed an American soldier in Iraq.

The military says the bomb exploded near his vehicle Thursday south of Amarah, a city 200 miles southeast of Baghdad.

The military said in a statement Friday that the soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
