OCEANSIDE, Calif. — The Corps’ top commander in Japan has adjusted liberty regulations for many Marines and sailors stationed there.

Under a new order approved Monday by Lt. Gen. Richard C. Zilmer:

• No members of III Marine Expeditionary Force or Marine Corps Bases-Japan are allowed to consume alcohol after 2 a.m. at any off-base public venue.

• The curfew adopted this past winter is now lifted for all Marines and sailors who carry a “Gold” liberty card, typically staff sergeants and above.

• Marines and sailors who carry the more-restrictive “Red” liberty card can go off base for liberty only with a liberty buddy, and they must be on base between midnight and 5 a.m.
