SALT LAKE CITY — A Hill Air Force Base manager has been convicted of bomb charges in federal court.

A jury decided Thursday that the 40 pipe bombs made by Raymond Bradley Parr were not merely amped-up fireworks but destructive explosive devices.

Parr, who was the supervisory director for the 75th Air Base Wing Mission Support group services division, now faces up to 10 years in federal prison and $250,000 in fines.

Forty bombs were found at a Layton car wash Sept. 5, 2007. Five days later, four more were discovered behind a Roy convenience store.

Police destroyed the weapons, which had been stolen from a storage unit that Parr rented.
