Misawa group serves teens pizza, Bible lessons
Misawa group serves teens pizza, Bible lessons
By Jennifer H. Svan, Stars and Stripes
Pacific edition, Monday, April 7, 2008

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — It mixes pizza and prayer, life lessons and laughing, stories and scripture.

Students from Robert D. Edgren High School flock by the dozens every week to V.I.P — or Video, Inspiration and Pizza — a new club with a Christian bent for teenagers on base.

Last week, nearly 40 kids showed up for free pizza and a lesson about the Bible’s “works of flesh” — feelings such as hatred and jealousy — and “fruits of the spirit” — love and joy, for example.

The discussion with youth leader Jessica Hall focused on how each might apply to a teen’s life.

Hall is excited by how fast the group has grown since the first meeting in late January.

1. What of food do they serve when the discourse is 'STD'?
So is this a 'Faith Based' group on a military installation?

3. I lived there
twenty something years ago. A beautiful part of Japan. It was pretty unspoiled back then. There were mosty young guys and gals stationed there back then who were hardly more than teens themselves. If this is for the teen children of armed service personel, there can't be all that many there unless the base has really grown.

4. Gee. In my day, all the kids had on base was smoking behind the Teen Club
and making out behind the bleachers. Or visa versa.

Free pizza!

5. Fruit Could Be Instructional
Cherries for chastity Apples for lust.Green apples for jealousy. Bananas for...well they must put in a negative for Mr. Darwin.Lemons for the anger/ bitter feelings. Since they are less likely to eat the fruit they have to also serve the pizza!
