ARLINGTON, Va. — A Korea-based airman is in jail after allegedly killing another airman in New Mexico, police said.

Tech Sgt. Gerard Parvilus, 33, faces charges of murder, kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated assault in connection with the incident, a police said.

Parvilus, assigned to the 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Kunsan Air Base and allegedly absent without leave, is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, police said.

He stands accused of killing Airman 1st Class Pierre “Tony” Smith, stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., and abducting his wife, Jahaira Parvilus, who is also in the Air Force, police said. Holloman officials would not provide her rank.

Parvilus reportedly told police Smith was having an affair with his wife, but local District Attorney Scot D. Key would not speculate about Parvilus’ possible motive.
