where to get info about chemical decontamination suits etc. for military?

I'm not shopping for one! But I just heard some rather disturbing information about millions of federal research dollars being spent on chemical decontamination materials to go into future military field clothes - but the particular products don't work. Granted, it was from someone working on a competitive product, so I take it with a grain of salt (they were giving a seminar mostly about the chemistry involved). I'm wondering if readers of this forum might know of websites or publications with reliable info about this sort of thing. Before I spout off letters to Congress saying "look into this waste! spend it on products that work!" I should educate myself more. Thanks for any tips.
