AAFES gas prices are not released

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service on Thursday did not release its gas prices by press time.

The exchange usually releases its prices on Thursdays to allow lead time for Stars and Stripes and American Forces Network to publish or broadcast them before the weekly price adjustment on Saturdays.

In weeks when prices are expected to go up, knowing the prices early gives customers warning in case they want to buy coupons before the price increase.

AAFES prices are based on average U.S. fuel prices. AAFES adds local dispensing costs to the average U.S. prices for each grade to determine the local pump prices.

The average price for regular unleaded in the U.S. dropped 1.8 cents this week, midgrade dropped 2 cents and premium dropped 2.2 cents, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The average U.S. price for diesel was unchanged from last week.
