New reserve forces commander to take over

Rear Adm. Lothrop S. Little will take command of Navy Reserve Forces Command at a ceremony aboard Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Belle Chasse, La., on Friday.

Little will relieve Rear Adm. Craig O. McDonald, who is retiring from the Navy after 34 years of service — the last 30 months of which he spent at the helm of Navy Reserve Forces Command.

A 1977 graduate of the University of Nevada, Little was commissioned as an ensign in 1981. He has served as Navy Reserve Forces Command chief of staff, and commanding officer of the frigate Sides, Destroyer Squadron 1, and the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Rochester, N.Y.

Navy Reserve Forces Command is responsible for the readiness, oversight, manpower management, logistics, mobilization and training of 71,300 Navy reservists.
