Soldiers of the 101st Sustainment Brigade have assumed authority of the Joint Logistics Command at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, relieving the 43rd Area Support Group from Fort Carson, Colo., which has been in country a year.

During a transfer of authority ceremony Jan. 20, 43rd Area Support Group commander Col. John Howard told his soldiers he was “proud of the selfless service displayed by the Provider team, evident by the multitude of accomplishments that are testament to their commitment to excellence.”

“To your credit, you managed and distributed more critical supplies than any previous logistics brigade in Operation Enduring Freedom,” Howard said in an Army press release.

Col. Jeffrey Kelley, commander of 101st Sustainment Brigade from Fort Campbell, Ky., echoed Howard’s sentiments

“We’ve discovered over the past couple of weeks just how hard you’ve all worked to set the standard for Force Sustainment Operations in some of the most challenging environments any Army has ever had to work in,” Kelley said in the relase. “This hard work paved the road for the Lifeliners. Thank you for blazing the trail for us to follow.”
