200 from Ellsworth wing headed to war zone

RAPID CITY, S.D. — More than 200 Ellsworth Air Force Base personnel from the 28th Bomb Wing were scheduled to deploy Monday to southwest Asia to support military operations in various roles.

Aircraft, crews, maintainers and expeditionary combat support airmen will make the trek.

Air Force officials say the deployment ensures that B-1B Lancer bombers can continue their mission of providing critical long-range strike capability in that region of the world.
