Top Ten Conservative Idiots #9
http://www.democraticunderground.com/top10/05/182.html

Is it just me or does this story, far and away more than any other on the list, make your blood boil? I went to the site and read the intro and it makes me want to puke.

What is the best way to counter this? Is there any way?

1. This is definitely puke worthy!
The first thing that came to mind was, "What party would Lincoln join if he were alive today?"

This is outrageous! And we're paying for it? Time to write our Congressmen and women.

If the Democratic Party had any balls, they would draw up a similar calendar with all the horrific things the Republicans have done since 1964 to counter civil rights laws and insist that it be made available on this website. It might not hurt to email or call the DNC and insist they respond to this. In fact I'm going to do this right now.

You know, it seems like every fricken' day the Republicans do something so outrageous that it takes your breath away. What the Dems need is a back-bench Congressperson to do what Newt Gingrich used to do: make a lot of outraged noise, and attack, attack, attack! When are the Democratic politicians going to get freaking MAD!?

2. Point out the obvious
There are NO black Republican Senators or Congressmen in the current congress. How is that for Republican support?

While Bush appointed two black Americans to be National Security Adviser and Secretary of State, he gave foreign policy power to the Vice-President and the Defense Department, thereby making Powell and Rice the weakest foreign policy people in their respective positions in history. Bush giveth and Bush taketh away.

Historically, the Republican party dumped Reconstruction and support of African-Americans in a deal cut in the 1880s in the election of Rutherford Hayes. This is when they became the party of business.

Another fun question is to ask for a Republican civil rights pioneer of the 2Oth Century. Who can they possibly name?
