 It sounds like an epic battle and truly sad all at the same time. You are braver and more tolerant than I to even be able to read it.
I've had more than my fill of those kinds of threads and comments.
I had to take a few self-appointed defenders and alleged "hip hop" fans to task after the Imus debacle, when people decided to throw some heat the rapper's way. Of course that group assumed that when I dared to criticize rappers, I knew nothing about it, because I'm just a girl(:eyes:), especially after I openly stated that I am frequently offended and disgusted by much of what modern day rappers put out there. So of course several showed up attempting to shout me down, erroneously assuming I didn't know anything about the music genre and they could easily intimidate me with their superior knowledge of all things rap and hip hop.
Uh, huh. Right. PUH-LEASE!
I don't know a lot about a lot, but I know old skool hip hop and enough about the contemporary music to have an informed discussion about it. A few apologized when they saw I knew the history of the genre and I wasn't just some "anti-rap chick." again...:eyes:But it still pissed me off that they made the assumption that a woman couldn't be a fan of any of it and still be put off by it. It was more than a little tiresome and insulting.
Again, you're braver and more patient than me. ;)
