I am finishing up the third book of Taylor Branch's MLK trilogy. I purchased, but have not read The Autobiography of Malcolm X. What else? I am getting a good grasp of the civil rights era, but need a better grounding in earlier history.

Two of them I would recommend are:
* Before the Mayflower
* Forced into Glory, Abraham Lincoln's White Dream
Other books are:
* Destruction of the Black Civilization - Chancellor Williams
* Christopher Columbus and the Afrikan Holocaust: Slavery and the Rise of European Capitalism - John Henrik Clarke
* The African Origin of Civilization: Myth or Reality - Cheikh Anta Diop
