It may in reality NOT be a racial slur, or it may be. My point in the thread was primarily that most of the people responding with the greatest sense of "authority" on the issue, aren't in a position to say. For whatever reason, they just NEED to denounce anything that may be construed as such--why?
Could be a few things...
1. They have racial issues they choose not to look at or address. 2. Denouncing others right to be offended by things, makes them feel more powerful. 3. They are insecure cowards that need to remove others ability to be offended, because then they never have to look at the ways in which they discriminate or tear others down with their speech, actions, etc.
Other possibilities exist as well. Not feeling at my best today, so excuse me if my post lacks clarity, or if I'm repeating myself--don't mean to. :)
