This story makes me ill ...
first spotted over in the GD area.

Fleming senior wears racist T-shirt to school
Incident triggered fight; no criminal charges filed. He has left the school.

excerpts:

The undershirt the white student wore had a confederate flag on the front with the words "Keep it flying." On the back, a cartoon depicted a group of hooded Klansmen standing outside a church, waving to two others who had just pulled away in a car reading "Just married."

Two black men in nooses were being dragged behind.

Upset by the shirt, a 17-year-old black student hit the white student in the head. A crowd of about 100 students gathered to watch the Aug. 29 fight before authorities intervened.

(jump)
Sgt. Darin Lee of the Clay County Sheriff's Office investigated the altercation and found no criminal action.

Lee said the white student didn't want to press charges against the 17-year-old who hit him. Offensive as it may have been, the former student's shirt is protected by free speech, Lee added.

(jump)

"I'm not racist or anything," he said. "It's just, some people I hate, some people I don't get along with. And black people just happen to be the ones because they think they're better than everyone else."

3. But he's not a racist!
You know, have you ever heard a racist admit to being racist? Because I haven't. They always have some other excuse.

4. He knows not he's a moran.
I understand he enlisted with the Marines, eh? When he gets to boot camp and finds out he has to report to the folks he's decided he can't get along with (and I hope most of his superiors are black), then I think he'll get a realization....

6. That's a damn good idea, let his unit know.
I wonder if he is stupid enough to bring that shirt to boot camp.
Because, knowing how mean some of those commanding officers are, one of them may make him cut up that shirt into spaghetti like shreds and make him eat every last string....

7. You really only bring one outfit to bootcamp, and you never wear it
until the last day or two.

At least when I went in (in '92) that's how it was.

The main thing is to give this to the guys at his first permanent duty station.

When you go into the Corps, you first go through bootcamp, then if you're not infantry you go through MCT, then you go to your MOS school (where you learn your job), and finally you're assigned a permanent duty station. As a recruit in boot camp, or a student at MCT or MOS school, you're pretty protected. However, once he's at a permanent duty station (for either 3 years or 1 year if he's overseas), that's when he can really start feeling repercussions of his previous actions. That's when the other guys have the freedom and free-time to kick his ass, or goad him into doing something stupid.
