This sums it up for me: "The man is not Presidential..."
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 11:37 AM by AndyA
The person who spoke those words went on to say, "and the bar is set about as low as it can get after Bush."

And I have to agree.

I just don't see Barack Obama as Presidential. He has no spark. He says he has a vision, but I don't see it. He says he's going to bring change, I just see more business as usual in Washington.

I'm not a Hillary Clinton supporter, but I see her as the lesser of two evils. At least with her, we know what we're getting going into the deal. With Obama, he's an unknown. He has an unproven track record. He talks big, but has nothing to back it up with.

But my friend said it very simply: "The man is not Presidential..." I keep picturing Don Knotts in the movie How to Frame A Figg where the powers that be in a small town put him in an important position because they think he'll be too stupid to notice the crimes going on.

And I fear if Barack's the nominee, despite all the rhetoric about his ability to win, I think we'll end up with John McCain in the White House, which will be a continuation of the Bush years. The GOP is not going to give up their hard earned powers so easily, especially to a Democrat, and I just don't see that Barack has what it's going to take to make it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. :(

1. Right you are
He has done nothing, and I mean nothing to warrant a run for the presidency.
This whole Obama thing is simply weird. He doesn't speak to issues, doesn't give specifics, hasn't laid out any detailed, cohesive plan, and speaks only in generalities. It's all motivational rhetoric geared to make people feel good (optimistic). Change, believe, fired up, chant-chant, clap-clap... and he's hitting the political landscape like a tidal wave.

And the media is treating him with kid gloves. They don't ask hard questions of him, don't critique and analyze him like they do HRC and the earlier candidates, and don't do any investigative reporting. It's like a "hands off" policy is in place in regards to Obama. It's bizarre.

I have a really bad vibe about him.

2. I will give him this--he is an
inspirational speaker who has the ability to excite people
with rhetoric, but there has yet been no action backing up his
rhetoric. What is worse, in my book, is he uses the reasoning
used by the segregationists back in the late-50s/early-60s to
shoot down universal health care...you can't make people
(associate with)/(buy) something they don't want. Why is no
one calling him on this?

People are so caught up in electing the first Black president,
they are paying no attention to the lack of foresight.

People DON'T LISTEN, DON'T THINK and the failure of John
Edwards' campaign to run away with the nomination is proof of
the accuracy of that statement.

3. I'm with you Andy -
Clinton is the lesser of the two evils and she's been vetted, time and time again. I can just see the Repukes drooling over the prospect of going up against Obama, and they'll make McCain look like a hero with charisma. It's s sad situation we are in, the media and the Powers that be have chosen, and chosen badly.

5. I can't see
John doing that, but if it happened, I'd be disappointed and
still not support Obama. He's just not ready...we've seen
on-the-job training results the last 8 years.

6. Obama testimonials were solicited on the Illinois forum
And the responses have been less than a rousing endorsement:
