I am an Edwards Democrat
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 04:35 PM by Yael
All,

I have set up quite a few CafePress sites before. It only costs like $6 a month and is free to set up.

I am happy to set one up for Edwards Democrat and am looking at the following 2 slogans to start with:

I am an Edwards Democrat

Don't blame me, I voted for John Edwards (alternately, Don't blame me, I voted for Edwards)

CafePress is easy to work with -- you just submit your design and choose the items (mugs, shirts, buttons, bumper stickers). There is no prepayment and no inventory. They print to order when orders come in.

I am happy to pay the monthly -- and we can either donate any proceeds to the charity of John and Elizabeth's choice, DU general fund, or whatever you all come up with.

2 Caveats:

1. I am not a graphic designer, so this would just be fonts. Designs would be GREATLY appreciated for these themes and we can have as many designs/themes as we want. Any graphic designers in the house???

2. I don't want to waste a weekend working on all of this if you all don't think there would be any interest. Post and let me know!

ON EDIT: Sample site set up here: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/images.aspx

2. I like it.
I never did get any word on my merchandise order from John's store. If I got what I ordered I'd use them too.

3. Repressed graphic designer masquerading as an accountant here!
I think it's a great idea! My first degree was GD, haven't used it more than sporadically in the past few years, but I'll be more than happy to try to come up with some designs this weekend...please all, let me know if you have any ideas, thoughts, visions, etc...glad to have something to feel a little excitement about.

Great idea Yael!!

I went ahead and reserved the shop: http://www.cafepress.com/edwardsdemocrat/4723224

Just used an image from google images to display...

I will grab the specifics on how the images have to be made for them to use them and post them here.

I set this up as the premier shop -- so we have unlimited designs and unlimited items.

On Edit: Here is their page on what types of images they can accept: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/images.aspx

8. Well, you know me..... POVERTY is my issue, and only issue at this point.
John and Elizabeth were tireless in their hammering away on my behalf about poverty.

I can't really say I care about the Dem party anymore...they left me. EDWARDS didn't.

"the meek are getting ready"

10. Okie -- here is what I am thinking
I will prepay the store for 6 months.

This will give anyone and everyone an opportunity to send me an image that you would like to keep.

Have a pic of you and the Senator from a rally that you would like on a coffee mug?

Is the Senator talking with your child in a memorable photo that you would like on a mousepad?

Do you have a cool design of your own that you would like on a T-Shirt

Just want to say "I am an Edwards Democrat"?

These can either be unique to you (you send, I upload, you order, I remove) or you can choose to leave them out there for anyone.

As we can set this up for no profit (purchase at cost), I will do that so that we don't need to worry about income or donations to anyone -- it will just be our little place to be able to have customized stuff just for us.

Anyone wanting to send me images -- PM me for my email addy (so that Google doesn't pick it up) and I will take care of it.

You can see all of the options in the link in the OP.

This is going to be fun!

14. Here's a wonderful piece of text
that can go on the back of a T-Shirt:

Somewhere in America, an eight-year-old girl goes to sleep hungry, a little girl who ought to be drawing pictures and learning multiplication cries herself to sleep, praying that her father, who has been out of work for two years, will get a job again. It doesn't’t have to be that way.

Somewhere in America, a hotel housekeeper walks a picket line with her union brothers and sisters fighting for decent health care benefits during the day and works the late-shift at a diner at night so that she and her family can live a decent life and so her boy can go to college and have choices she never had.

And somewhere, a young man folds a college acceptance letter and puts it in his drawer because even with his part-time job and his mother’s second job, he knows he cannot afford to go. It doesn't’t have to be that way.

It doesn't have to be this way

Everyone matters

We are Americans, and we’re better than that.

The time for half-measures, empty promises and sweet rhetoric is gone. Now is the time for courage, decisiveness and moral leadership.

It’s time to stand up for the promise of America again — and for the principle that every American matters, no matter where you come from, or what color your skin is, or how much money you have in your pocket.

17. On the good side, if you are in the market to meet people
this will bring them close. :D

I will make it into an image and submit it and let you take a look and see what you think.

If it doesn't work in a shirt -- it may work on a mousepad?

19. I'd love it on a mousepad - or
maybe a tote? Not in the market - Mr. WFH may have something to say about that but how about a billboard? 30 feet high? Sorry, really need to hit the hay!

26. Yanno, the "Backbone" shirt has a whole lot on the back of it....
And so many people stop me to read it, when I have it on!

How 'bout that on the back, and my idea on the front of a shirt?

Really, that would just tickle me!

What a great idea!

22. Somehow I don't think it is BOLD enough. I am ambivelent about the small lettering.I know Edwards
used it but it seems to me to indicate lack of strength.Myabe not but that wqas a quick impression.I would like stronger more attention getting colors as well! But that is just me.It is a very nice design.Perhaps I am just too pissed! And I want the PTB to notice!

25. Poverty slogans, ........and my idea

Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction.

The Meek are getting ready.

"Where there is plenty, poverty is evil." Bobby Kennedy

Now, my idea....

Black and white pictures, back to back, of Edwards and Bobby Kennedy.
"Where there is plenty, poverty is evil." Bobby Kennedy

I see John Edwards as picking up the banner of Bobby, and as his successor, he reminds us all of what the Democratic party USED to be, and needs to recapture.

I would really like to see this as a symbol of where we are going, and a symbol of us, as a group. Bobby gave so many hope... not because he kept repeating the word, but because it was so clear he LOVED those of us on the bottom rung, and was fully prepared to fight for us.

Let us remind the party to leave the corporations behind, and resurrect the REAL Democratic Party!

I need to check though -- apparently it is against the rules to use a photo, drawing or other likeness of an individual unless it is unique (like a photo of you with the person).

Let me find out!
