Elizabeth passed this morning. It is a very sad day for this nation and all who loved this wonderful inspiring women. RIP and peace to John and all the Edwards family at this difficult time.

1. Dear Friends

I must have been somewhat in sync when EE passed this morning, other than I had to go home from work because I became sick. But truly, I didn't know until the afternoon until another EE supporter called me, thinking he could console me. I thanked him for his call because EE and JRE had brought him and his partner together, but I was shocked.

We will need to rethink this group since she is gone--perhaps we need a different type of support group. Please let me or Skinner know what your wishes are--and I'm certain he will do what we wish since Elizabeth was a social networker.

I am sad; I will miss her, but I am truly privileged to have been her friend. She loved us all.

2. I see no reason to change this group other than let it stand as a memorial.

Perhaps , over time, it can morph into a group dedicated to true HCR and healing poverty. But in the meantime let this group continue to be dedicated to sharing the essensce of Elizabeth Edwards and the message of the Edwards Campaign that she so believed in, "one America"

4. Given how much this loss has affected so many DUers

This group could easily become a de facto grief and survivor support group for us, the E E supporters, particularly in the coming months and no longer on the front page, but with many of us still needing a place to share memories and to discuss what we can do, given recent events, to address real HCR, poverty, education, and other issues so important to her and to us.

On the EE threads, I notice the names of so many DUers that I had not seen posting for many months. I haven't posted much recently except for a rant on election night and a few other things. Maybe some of those who returned will hang around for a while. I would like to see what a number of them might say concerning several hot topics.

Her death has affected me in nearly the same ways as I was with the Wellstone's, but with even more impact. I had known each of them back in college, but not very well in either case. I saw Paul once or twice after college when he was back visiting in Chapel Hill. I had only see EE at a couple of events before she returned to Chapel Hill and lived around the corner while they built their house. Saw her fairly often as a neighbor, less often after they moved into their new house.

I have often described myself as a Wellstone Democrat; my have to change to Wellstone-Edwards.
