I miss this guy

(Flash needed to see this)

I still think he was sincere, and EE was with him at that convention.

1. Of course he was; the detractors are wrong.

I saw him in person six or seven times and met with him after his speeches, and there was never any sense in my mind he was a fake at all.

Ditto double for Elizabeth. They both came from nothing, unlike Obama and many others.

6. Thanks, Spooky
Elizabeth is the one who is so deeply in the throes of disappointment, compared to us.

But so is Wendy Button. Take a look at this piece from HuffPo:

7. That was a good piece but nobody will read it
They are far more likely to read the claim in the NE about JRE supposedly asking Druck to marry him.

9. FTR, JRE denies being engaged to Druck

"It's absolutely not true," says a spokesperson for Edwards, of a story in the National Enquirer that claims the two plan to wed after his divorce from Elizabeth Edwards is complete.

Though the former senator acknowledged last month that he is the father of a 2-year-old girl with Hunter, a spokesperson for Edwards says he and Hunter don't communicate directly any longer.

10. The thing I'm most confused about.
What really floors me is how loyal RH's circle of friends is to her. I would NEVER have succeeded in getting through life the way she did, by manipulation and sexual favors. I just wouldn't be that good at it.

But she has succeeded, in snagging a number of wealthy, intelligent, fabulous men and girlfriends through the years; despite her obvious lack of class and emotional depth.

How the hell does she do it? She talks in word salad and exudes creepy Svengalism. I would think even the appeals to ego would get too blatant to be believable after a while.

How does she actually succeed in getting people to trust her, like her, and give her "refrigerator rights" (to use a phrase from author Glenn Sparks)? How does she succeed in getting past people's reservations about her character, ethics, and brains?

And if I met her tomorrow, what would her effect on MY emotions be? ... I would feel like I'd better be on guard for my thought processes being messed with!

11. Don't give her that much credit.
She's really not worth all this analysis. It makes no sense but I'm done trying to figure out what makes John Edwards tick. Let alone Rielle Hunter.

15. I've wondered the same things about her and a few other people I've known.
I just don't see how they do the smoke and mirrors or why others aren't able to or don't want to see through it, even when it greatly costs them.

13. Not that I believe the NE on this but then nothing surprises me about Edwards
he is apparently stupid enough to think marrying her might fix things.i certainly hope this isn't true because IMHO, this would be the very worst thing he could do.

14. Good piece but OTOH, she publicly supported Mccain/Palin.
How you could go from Edwards to taht is simply beyond me. A gun to my hean couldn't make me vote for tham no matter who the Dems nominated.

5. I agree, but it is really too bad that the message is now lost.
I will never regret my vote no matter how much I am mocked for it. I voted for the message. And the current Admin lied. Obama promised he would make poverty a central issue of his admin., in return for Edwards endorsement. I guess since Edwards was "discredited," Obama felt he didn't have an obligation to keep that promise. And he did nothing. He also didn't keep the promise he made to Elizabeth about health care for all. . I can understand if it isn't possible but it doesn't even look as if he tried on either issue.JMHO. But we've got what we've got and it is what it is.

8. I don't regret a thing either saracat ...
The policies and issues were worthy and I hope one day someone else will pick up JRE's mantle on poverty, unions, real health care reform and helping the working class, because it seems no one in office now wants to.
