And wanted to say "Hi" to all Edwardians and see how everyone is faring. I'm okay, still a little lost here, not quite all fired up about the presumptive nominee - and how many times does one have to say they are going to vote Dem in November without getting the third degree?

Here are a few nice posts to see:

3. Hiya back iris!
:hi: Hope you had a good time on vacation! With the way things are lately, it looks like we are going to travel a whole 10 miles and do some camping on the beach this year, looking forward to it actually, I think my kids are going to love it. And I stayed off the computer that night....I was certain it was going to explode!

6. Hey There... Thanks For The Info... I'm Way Out Of The Loop These Days....
BUT my addiction rears it's head from time to time and I need "my fix" never knowing WHY!!!

So the end is near they say, yet still people mumble & grumble and for WHAT I say!! As I sit back and watch this theater I constantly wonder what the end result will be. I did something completely ridiculous today, I watched KO tonight and didn't flip the channel when THE IDIOT was being interviewed regarding his "little trip" to the Middle East. And the D-WAD didn't let me down, In fact he's worse than ever. I noticed his heavy nostril breathing as he spoke his presumptive "words of wisdom" and something inside me saw FIRE again! More than ever I saw a complete "egomaniac" who doesn't have a clue and I hit myself over the head wondering why "me, myself & I" ever thought I could fight back against this narcissistic puppet that "the powers that be" served up to us on a platter!!!

NOW, as too many Americans have come to realize they got screwed I'm still watching a different "theater" evolving and through my depression of what could have been, I find my heart is no longer worn on my sleeve, and my skin is tougher and my DESIRE to make a change has begun to fade. I AM in withdrawal and it still hurts, but I do feel that I am growing a thick outer skin.

As I saw posted by someone here at the Edwards Forum commenting that this is the "SUCKIEST" reality now, I wholeheartedly agree! I'm sure many/ANY reading this think I've really lost it, but this is the ONLY outlet where just "one" person might understand. But then again... might not!

Posting here among people who once were some of the very best and decent people, The Edwards Supporters, I'm still glad I was part of it. Sorry, letting my feelings drip all over this PC and didn't intend to... still I'm going to post it anyway!

16. Thanks Sara... I Have Been Watching Your Posts As Well & See We Have
stayed on the same page. I feel lost and without a rudder and come here for solace as I said. I KNOW how dedicated you have been and it's a very difficult time for us. I have always enjoyed our online relationship even if I haven't been as vocal lately. And I too have YOU on my "favorite people" list! Thanks for your reply, I know my post was pretty depressing and hearing from you does help!

So it looks like Obama and there's this feeling I have that IF he should become POTUS, something very bad may happen. I suspect too many "rednecks" down here WON'T vote for him (I could be wrong) but I live down here, plus some "kook" will take a pot shot at him, JUST BECAUSE! I guess we have NO CHOICE, but to muddle through and the prospects leave so many of us DEVASTATED! I wish I could be more optimistic because of the old saying.. laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone! That's part of the reason I haven't been as involved, I'm just not "good company" now.

But thanks again...

15. I so miss those days -
and the Edwards supporters that are still here, are the best and I can only hope that they keep this forum open. I think we are going to need a place to go when all hell breaks loose - I, for one, do not see what all the excitement is over, it's like looking at two peas in a pod. But, hey, I think Edwardians have better vision anyway!

13. Ahh Catch -
This part got me best:

We know what we are getting with Hillary Clinton. We've read the label that has been on the box for years. And, yes, we may not like everything about her, but at least we know what we are getting when we support her. There are no surprises, no baggage left unexamined. Hillary has been in the public eye for years. She has a record that can be followed and seen in plain view. We know who she is. We know that she is a hard worker and a smart fighter who will never give up. And we have a pretty good idea of what she would do as president. Perhaps most importantly though, we know that she wins vital states that have proven to be essential to winning the WH.

Now, that being said, I think we all know John would have mopped the floor with McCain.

;)

17. Looks Like We Have A Little Group Huddled Here Again... ALL Of You
above are VERY HIGH on my list, and I dare say continue working where I have fallen by the wayside. As I know you all must feel, it's small comfort, but I respect each one of you a great deal and I feel The Edwards Group were the FINEST and most COURTEOUS here at DU. And not only do "we" believe it, I've seen it posted by the other camps that in fact WE WERE!

So "kudos" to us. Yes, WFH... JOHN EDWARDS would have mopped the floor and McCain would have been left looking idiotic by comparison!

Once again... a very SUPER GROUP, and my honor to have been part of it. I'll NEVER forget our "Energizer Bunny" thread, we stuck together and it was ALL POSITIVE for the most part!

24. Hello Balantz... Nice To See You Here Again. And Yes I Know You
and many others have been commenting all along, but it's nice to see some of the old gang on the same page. Kind of a comfort zone of sorts.

I made a comment about Kennedy and his brain tumor at the General Primary Forum, a place I don't go very much, where I stated that this kind of brain tumor is really bad news. Knowing of 4 others who have had brain tumors in the last two years, each one has since died after treatments and surgery. But his type of tumor is one I saw up close. My neighbor's son had the same kind, they went through everything possible, even surgery and removed the tumor they saw, but it grew back again very quickly. Anyway, I just put my .99 worth in and some person named American Amazon, I think replied that Edwards the great orator had the same tumor that affected his speech and something about it being just "sad, sad, sad!"

Why she needed to take the opportunity to put down Edwards when the discussion was about Kennedy re-affirmed why I don't like posting there anymore. I said nothing about Edwards and I have changed my Avatar because I believe in "power to the people" and yet they just want to bait you or lure you into an argument. It's childish and harmful, and I always try to ignore this type of stuff. I know there is a split in the party, but when I read stuff over there it boggles my mind!

And I haven't been posting there, but she must have remembered I supported Edwards and I guess she couldn't help herself. I don't remember her... but anything for a fight I guess. I'm glad so many of us didn't feel the need to jump in the "mud-pit" of "sling-fest" over there!

Thanks :pals:

29. I am checking the straight Dem ticket
box - that way I really don't have to check the box next to his name - sad, isn't it? I truly believe he is all fluff and no substance and wouldn't have the platform he does now if it wasn't for John. I am baffled over all the fawning - there is a world of difference in Edwards and Obama's speaking styles and frankly, Obama's leaves me cold.

30. Yes.
John Edwards really has more of a connection in his speaking style. I always felt the fire and conviction. Obama is just a speech that sounds grandiose and has no real fire from the belly. I feel no real conviction that he is really here to change things. Leaving me cold says it well.

31. sad
I now expect that we will not see universal health care in our lifetimes (mine anyway.)

We won't see housing for the homeless.

We won't see a restoration of the public infrastructure.

We won't see public transportation.

We won't see agriculture protected and restored.

We won't see education and the arts adequately funded.

We won't see the New Deal coalition put back together.

We won't see the public airwaves returned to the public.

We won't see corporations and big finance, development and sprawl and speculation - the ongoing fire sale of our country and its assets and the destruction of all who are producers of real value - reined in.

Shouldn't all of that matter to people? Doesn't all of that matter, to the general public? Does anyone doubt that those things can all be done, and must be done? Why is a small number of people, the gentrified liberals who control the party, holding all of us and the general public hostage?

Those are just a few of the things we have traded away, and for the sake of what? Organic consumer choices for the few? More bike trails? Gun control?

32. Damn TA.....now I am depressed!
and have to concede that everything you said is the truth. I still can't understand how so many Democrats have been sucker by the person who it seems will be our eventual nominee. It still bothers me that we had a chance to really fix what has been done to this country over the last eight years.

Instead we will get someone who talks a good game but in the end won't deliver the goods.

33. clarity and wisdom
Clarity and wisdom are more valuable than superficial feel-good "think positive" illusions, and from clarity and wisdom comes genuine hope and optimism.

All of that tension and frustration and stress we experience is from the gap between what we say the party is going for and what the party is actually going for. The wider the gap gets, the more frantic and aggressive the Obama supporters get (for some reason a certain faction of liberalism has found its perfect expression in the Obama campaign) and the more the public becomes alienated from the political left.

If we are to give up on the things on that list I wrote, then what are we doing? Those things are not pie in the sky, they are not "too radical," they are not unrealistic or impractical. They all enjoy vast support from the public.
