Intermediate Classical Songs/Pieces

I walked into GC the other day to buy some strings and picks and walked out with a Yamaha CG-151S nylon string guitar. It's a really nice instrument. Solid Spruce top, ebony fretboard. Flawless finish. Sounds just great.

Anyway...now I have to learn some classical stuff. I'm already working on 'Malaguena', but am looking for suggestions.

So...any suggestions?

1. Villa Lobos

Some of his early stuff is pretty easy. The music is easy to read and that's half the battle. It's not beginner stuff, but it's not ridiculously difficult.

11. Tablature is a very practical way of notating music on fretted instruments,

that's why lute music was intabulated for hundreds of years.

Tab tells you where to put your fingers, which is extremely useful, especially if you are playing solo music on instruments that are tuned in different ways.

What it is not so good at is indicating the movement of inner parts and the contours of melodic lines, but an experienced player has no trouble gleaning this anyway.

I would agree that the ability to read staff notation is essential, as is the ability to read in any clef, especially the "c" clefs, as these make transposing into any key a cinch.

I wouldn't say tab is bullshit, it's just important to understand its strengths and limitations.

10. Guardame Las Vacas by Luys de Narvaez

It's a fairly easy intermediate piece but it's very beautifl. It was originally written for the Vihuela, an early form of the guitar and it really has that Renaissance music sound.
