I kow they can get loud and play too many notes, but do they actually dry out and start to lose their flavor?

2. Yes. Exhibit A: Keith Richards

He's been playing the exact same thing on every song since 1964.

4. No Denying It
That doesn't mean i have to like it though! The same could be said, i guess, for Chuck Berry, but if i had a student who stopped progressing at that level, i'd dump him like a bad habit. There are just so many things to explore on any instrument, that settling for "good enough" seems lazy, to me.

5. it gets harder and harder,
what with all the supermodels, blow jobs, drugs, houses, private jets and all to find time to practice.

Never confuse the music business with the music.

6. I Never Have
I've been fortunate in that almost everything i ever bought was paid for with music money. (My last guitar, not so much.) But, since i was never willing to play what people wanted to hear, but preferred to try to make them want to hear what we do, we never made the coin we could have. We knew the difference between the biz and music. We just cared about the latter so much more than the former.

As Phil Hartmann said in the "Sinatra Group" sketch, "Contempt for the audience is what killed Dennis Day!"
