MP3 players...
I'm looking to buy an MP3 player, in the 20-40GB range. My plan is to rip all of my CDs (~500) to format and store the discs in the attic. Any advice on player/software? My req's are:

Software must be good. I am an organizational freak, and want to have a program that recognizes the CD (through internet connection), and then stores each CD as a folder, but then allows for sorting, playlists and searching. So I want something backed up by a good online database.

Interface with stereo through RCA jacks.

Backlit display.

Easy to navigate.

Long battery life. (weight is not an issue)

Thanks for any help.

2. I couldn't justify an ipod.
Not until the battery is replaceable. Or have they addressed that already?

4. Download iTunes, it is free, it is a great MP3 manager/ripper/CD Burner

even if you never get an iPod. Download it and rip a few CDs. Check out the organization features, etc etc. You don't need an iPod to use it -- it is a great standalone music library program.

That will give you a taste of what it would be like to manage your library w your ipod

there are many hard disk based players out there, but every review I have ever read in a legit source says - "it is great, but it is still not as good as an iPod."

here's iTunes download link:
