2. Truly a wonderful film that deserves to be better known.

It's Laughton's party, but John Mills and Brenda De Banzie are also noteworthy. And it all seems like a trip back to a world now vanished (Of course it was made in an era when the Victorian Age was still within living memory for some people).

Note to Fawlty Towers fans: That's Prunella Scales playing Laughton's youngest daughter. "Oh, I know!"

4. I watched most of "Rembrandt."
They did a very good job with the costumes and the general look, I thought. It's been a while since art history class, I thought but Laughton really captured the look of the aged Rembrandt we see in the late self-portrait.

I didn't realize it was Elsa Lanchester playing opposite him until I saw the credits. The role wasn't one I associate with her.
