I should probably say something about Syndicate
I have been avoiding this because I am so disgusted by what is being done to this game but... Here goes.

There is a new game play trailer up (11:06 - NSFW)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJY58Kq1UJg

First off I should say that the old Bullfrog Syndicate game has some very fond memories for me. It was one of the handful of awesome games I had for the Atari Jaguar and it was like nothing I had ever played before. It shared a lot of similarities with Xcom but was a little more focused, a lot more intense and a shit ton cooler.

When I first heard that a re-make was planned for this game, I got real excited. Then I heard they were going to make it first person and I got real dis-appointed. Game developers... I'm talking to you right now... Not every fucking game has to be first person, they don't all work correctly that way.

As I've read more, it appears they are taking the setting, weapons and upgrade concept but throwing everything else out and making this much more of a Deus Ex clone then a syndicate re-make.

From the video, the game looks OK... I mean they have the atmosphere of Syndicate down really well. The rest is pretty so-so though, collision detection seems a bit off (see the guy getting worked over in the chair) and the little circle that floats above your weapon target is wicked distracting. The lack of a mini-map or anything I could that was telling the player where to go makes me wonder if these things are just gone or turned off because the demo player knew where to go. I would much rather see someone playing through for the first time to get a better feel then someone just breezing through.

I don't know... It might turn out OK but there is no way this is really a Syndicate game and anyone expecting one should look elsewhere. I know I won't be touching this just because what I really want is a Syndicate re-make and not another FPS... There are more then enough of those.
