Call of Duty 4: modern Warfare
Just finished this badboy, its pretty short but, its such a fantastic 4-5 hours of gaming.
I played it on my PC, and I have to say, its looks so good and runs great! even on my older p4 though I have a x1950xt w/512mb ram card which is years ahead of my processor.

The opening of the game is just... awe inspiring, a really short mission on a cargo ship with the SAS, really shows off the engines awesome lighting and weather effects, after that one of the creepiest "levels" in gamin history, as you live out the last moments of a deposed president as he's escorted through the streets in the back of a car to his execution. its one of the best gaming moments ever! I simply had to watch 2 or 3 times.

I'm sad I'm finished though :( but.. multilayer here I come :D

1. I'm maybe an hour into this....
and agree - this is a great game. The episode with the deposed leader was just incredible.

2. Damn Dogs!
Yep too short! I made the same mistake I made with COD2 and started off at too low a difficulty setting. Going through it again at higher difficulty and now it's more of a challenge. Awesome graphics and cut scenes!

3. I am unable to play online, 5 hours of game play=49 bucks?
I guess I will have to wait for it to hit the discount bin. I don't have access to true broadband Internet access. I am forced to use satellite Internet and it does not work for online gaming.
It's too bad the game companies don't include more single player content for people like me.

4. I agree with you
While I like a good multiplayer, if I can't dive into a single person campaign for a good 15-20 hours at least of gameplay, the game becomes more likely to be a trade in.

Heck, I'm even considering trading in HALO 3 for something like Mass Effect.

I am glad the other posters noted how long the campaign is - totally made up my mind that this is a renter for me.

5. There Is Some Replay Value In The SP...
and what little of it there is fantastic. ...especiall on the higher difficulty levels. I've got it now on rental and I'm definitely trading in H3 for either it or "Mass Effect". I wasn't a fan of the "KOTORs" or "Jade Empire" but Mass Effect looks too good to miss.

6. Not the same replay value as others though
such as COD2, Far Cry, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. all of which I replayed 4 or 5 times each. Playing COD4 SP twice is good enough for me unless someone makes a really good realism MOD like the one for COD2.

8. I Like The Arcade Mode.
Most notably on the Specter, Epilogue and ghillie suit levels. "...and stop calling me shirley"

7. Yeah, Mass Effect looks pretty good
the KOTORs were good, but so linear that I didn't really want to replay them. Plus, I hate turn based combat.

I almost decided to turn in Halo 3 today for Assassin's Creed, but I think I will wait for Mass Effect.

9. Yeah The Turn Based System Was A Real
turn-off (pun intended). So many good games, so little money. H3, COD3, GHIII, Mass Effect... Thank deity for rentals.

10. Some of us love Turn based combat
And most developers stay away from it, so it would seem.

11. Just got this game yesterday...
from Gamefly and I must may...WOW!!! You are right, the opening of the game is awesome...so realistic. I have a PS3 and the online matches are addictive. If anyone else is on PS3 online, lemme know and we'll team up. Peace out.
