any current/retired OpFlashpoint players
at DU?

Operation Flashpoint was, to me, the greatest game ever made. I was wondering if any gaming DU'ers had any exposure to it. I retired from OpFlash more than a year ago, and have moved on to other games, sniff, sniff, but there will always be a special place in my heart for OpFlash.

the scale/scope of OpFlash is what I miss most

i still dont think its been beat in terms of level of control on an FPS.

PCGamer, while slapping OpFlash, with a 70%(wtf?!) said "Fans of military hardware will go nuts, as you’ll have access to historically accurate and realistically modeled weapons such as the Dragunov sniper rifle and M-60 machine gun. Both NATO and Warsaw Pact hardware is available. The list of playable vehicles includes T-72 tanks, BMP troop transports, and Cobra attack helicopters."

and

"In terms of realism, Operation Flashpoint is the closest you’ll get to a real ground war on your PC."

The release date has been pushed back so much for opflash II, now its like June 2006 or some such fuckery. :nopity:

1. Yeah, I loved opFlash here.
Haven't played it in more than a year though. Was really fun. I liked the openness of the missions and the adherence to realism that it tried to portray.

Sucks that opFlash 2 was moved back. I'm really looking forward to it.
Meanwhile I'll just wait for BF2 and MxO.

3. The Matrix Online.
MMORPG based on "The Matrix" (obviously). I've been playing in the beta for a little while now, it's pretty sweet. I'd say the most visually stunning MMORPG out there so far.

4. Yes, it was an amazing game
It was incredibly hard for me at first, coming from games like UT and Q3, but it was because it was realistic. It took a few tries before I could get past the "getting killed in first 30 seconds". The AI was very good, something that was lacking in other games.

Few things can be more satisfying after you complete a really lengthy and difficult mission.

Another thing was that my performance improved in other FPS games after playing Flashpoint.

5. yeah it was difficult.
incredibly so. i eventually got some friends to make a clan for online, but they couldn't hack the single player for the difficulty.
